Role: Communications and Development Assistant

The successful candidate will coordinate all aspects of marketing and communication for this entrepreneurial, non-profit organization. He/she will support the work of the Executive Director and will play a critical role in continuing to build the capacity of this highly productive, emerging organization. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative self starter.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILIES:
Communications and Marketing
- Manage all aspects of public communication, including the development, production, and distribution of marketing materials for the organization and its varied housing development initiatives.
- Maintain the corporate website.
Real Estate Industry and Community Cultivation
- Support the ongoing cultivation of the Real Estate Council, including written updates, special events and solicitations follow-up.
- Coordinate a high-profile speaker series focused on the real estate and housing industry which includes planning with external real estate professionals to design the series content and recruit speakers. Tasks also include all aspects of marketing; including the production, development of content, and supervision of printing and distribution of an electronic newsletter.
- Manage all external communication associated with building support at the community level for housing projects sponsored by the organization.
Fund Development and Board Support
- Develop internal systems and processes that will allow the organization to manage, grow and cultivate relationships with funding partners and other external stakeholders.
- Assist with planning and implementation of corporate and fundraising events, annual appeal, as well as written fundraising proposals. Responsible for administrative duties associated with resource development such as gift processing and correspondence associated with fundraising effort
- Provide administrative support for the Executive Director which includes managing written communication with Board of Directors and its committees, including meeting materials and minutes, notices, corporate filings, etc.
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will have a sincere interest in working for a mission-driven organization that provides high quality housing, both affordable and mixed income.
- A self-starter, proactive with an ability to anticipate the needs of the organization in relation to project deliverables, meetings, grant proposals, etc.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Flexible and able to multi-task; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and an ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. A high degree of detail orientation.
- Strong organizational skills teamed with a flexible and adaptable style; ability to work both independently without close oversight and as a team player who will productively engage with others.
- Strong computer skills and a high level of comfort with technology is required. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Publisher as well as Filemaker Pro preferred. Experience working with relational databases helpful. Familiarity with (X)HTML, CSS, and image editing skills are all desirable, though not required.
- This position requires occasional early morning and evening meetings.
