Covenant House I, II and III

The Covenant House properties, 242 units of low-income elderly housing in Boston, were built in three phases, through the committed efforts of many of the Realty Unit's earliest members. They are part of the B'nai B'rith Senior Housing Network, which encompasses 36 apartment buildings that serve more than 6,000 people.

The Realty Unit leadership formed two special purpose corporations to develop these properties-namely the B'nai B'rith Senior Citizens Housing Corporation (SCHC) which developed Covenant House I & II and B'nai B'rith III Corporation which developed the third phase.

The projects were financed through local seed money, loans and donations of time and money from Unit members as well as funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as well as from the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of MA.

The Covenant House properties have become more than just a roof over people's heads; they have become a real community, providing an array of social, recreational, health and other supportive programs to enhance the lives of its international residents. The Covenant House properties have been cited as a "national model" of quality housing that is both affordable and supportive of its residents.
