B’nai B’rith Housing was selected by the Swampscott Board of Selectmen to redevelop The Machon Elementary School into 38 one-bedroom units of senior affordable rental housing.

All units are handicap accessible or adaptable, including an elevator to all floors.
Preservation & Quality New Construction
Preserves the original 1920s building and replaces the 1963 addition with a newly constructed building compatible with the original design.
Landscaping & Open Space
Landscaped site design emphasizing a strong green connection between the site, the neighborhood, and public open space.
A ground lease so the town retains ownership with an upfront payment of $500,000
Additional $50,000 for enhancements to Jackson Park, as determined by the community
Real estate taxes paid annually to town
Age restricted to seniors of low and moderate income, with 70% of units prioritized for Swampscott residents as allowed by law and regulation. Initial selection to be done by lottery.
