In the coming weeks, the BBH team will be responding to a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by the Boston Housing Authority (BHA) with the hopes of receiving the designation to redevelop the Patricia White Apartments (PWA). PWA is a 225-unit, multi-family property located at 20 Washington Street in Brighton, directly next door to BBH’s Covenant House Communities. BBH knows this neighboring property well with many residents at PWA having participated in our resident services programs and community events over many years.
BBH hopes that receiving the designation from the BHA will allow us to best serve the residents of PWA. It will also allow us to continue to nurture and expand service-enriched housing opportunities in Brighton, something that we have been doing since 1980. Please consider showing your support for BBH’s proposal by adding your name to our group letter or writing a support letter of your own before June 24th. The BHA is interested in connecting with Brighton residents, service providers, and other community members who share BBH’s belief that quality affordable housing options build strong inclusive communities.

RE: Patricia White Apartments – 20 Washington Street, Boston
Dear Mr. McGonagle:
The signatories of this letter recognize the need to preserve high-quality, affordable housing in Brighton. It is with this in mind that we encourage the Boston Housing Authority to award B’nai B’rith Housing the designation for the redevelopment of the Patricia White Apartments, a 225-unit property located at 20 Washington Street in Boston.
B’nai B’rith Housing not only has the resources and expertise necessary to maintain affordability of the Patricia White Apartments in perpetuity, they are fully rooted in Brighton where they have been trusted neighbors for more than 35 years. They have owned and operated 242-units of affordable senior housing, known as the Covenant House Communities, directly next door to Patricia White Apartments. These units are some of the most sought after in Brighton thanks to B’nai B’rith Housing’s award-winning, service-enriched housing model that provides residents the services and opportunities they need to thrive and stay active. Over the last three years, B’nai B’rith Housing has made many of the services provided at Covenant House Communities available to the residents of the Patricia White Apartments. As a result, residents have had more access to community events, fitness classes and support services; it has both enhanced residents’ lives and strengthened the Brighton community.
B’nai B’rith Housing has an outstanding reputation and a solid track record of working with towns and cities throughout Greater Boston. They are collaborators who will work with the BHA and residents of the Patricia White Apartments to help fill the gaps that the federal government has left in the public housing stock.
We are confident that awarding the designation of the Patricia White Apartments to B’nai B’rith Housing will build on the current relationship, as well as preserve the wonderfully diverse community from which all Brighton residents benefit.
